Developed by Dee Dee Creations, this game seemingly came out of nowhere, and I just had to try it. So, what kind of punch is this squirrel packing?

Gameplay

In Squirrel With a Gun, you take on the role of a squirrel who escapes a secret underground facility after eating their prized "golden acorn." Hot on your tail are agents determined to stop you. After escaping, you’re free to roam the neighborhood, stirring up chaos. Solving puzzles, pulling off stunts, and playing mini-games will reward you with more golden acorns or adorable outfits to customize your squirrel.

As you progress, you'll face agents armed with everything from fists to rocket launchers—all of which you can use yourself. Each weapon offers a unique takedown, and trust me, you'll want to try them all. My personal favorite is the six-shooter. Put on a cowboy hat and show those agents who the fastest gun in the west really is.

The boss fights caught me off guard—they’re ridiculously over-the-top but also incredibly fun. Running around as a squirrel with an Uzi while taking down a tank... What more could you ask for?

For the completionists out there, this game is packed with collectibles. Whether it’s golden acorns, outfits, or reload wedges, there’s plenty to gather as you explore the chaos-filled world.

Graphics and Audio

Surprisingly, Squirrel With a Gun boasts some pretty impressive graphics. While it doesn’t aim for hyper-realistic 4K visuals, the detail on the squirrel's fur texture is impressive. But what truly shines is the audio. From the dynamic soundtrack to the hilarious sound effects, the audio design is spot-on.

The soundtrack ranges from techno to dubstep to metal, adding a lot of energy to the gameplay. Without the music, the game might have felt silly in a bad way, but the soundtrack elevates the entire experience.

Feedback

Overall, this game is an absolute blast. I appreciate that it doesn’t hold your hand, instead offering subtle hints to guide you. That said, the performance could use some improvement. Even on a 4070 Super, I experienced freezing and lag, particularly after pausing the game for a while. It seems like the game doesn’t like being left open for extended periods. Despite these hiccups, the controls are simple, the concept is a riot, and there’s just enough seriousness to keep you engaged.

I’ve seen some negative feedback about Squirrel With a Gun, and honestly, if you’re taking this game too seriously, you’re missing the point. It’s not a AAA experience, but holy cow—or squirrel—this game is fun. It’s mindless action, explosions, puzzles, and guns, all in the paws of a quirky little squirrel with a knack for chaos. I genuinely think everyone should give this game a try, if only for the pure joy and laughter it brings.
