Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has finally had its gameplay reveal at EA’s annual EA Play event. Revealed on stage by Vince Zampella and Stig Asmussen with host Greg Miller, Jedi: Fallen Order was met with applause by all of us in attendance! From wall running action to great saber combat and force powers the action looks super smooth and what I personally love from a Star Wars title. This mission on show takes place on Kashyyyk, the home planet of the Wookies, and sees our Jedi on the run Cal helping rebel extremist Saw Gerrera attempting to free several Wookie prisoners.

While Saw causes a distraction, involving some large mining equipment, Cal infiltrates the facility taking out numerous Storm Troopers and Jedi hunting Purge Troopers. During one segment of downtime Cal climbs up the side of the previously used mining equipment and has his droid, BD-1, reactivate the machine. Once the machine is out of the way the path moving forward is clear. The gameplay demo can be found below! Just be careful, the Storm Troopers have the high ground!

The Empire won't stop until every Jedi is purged from the galaxy. As a young Padawan on the run, the odds are against you-but the Force is with you. Discover the Jedi abilities you must master to survive. Become a Jedi on November 15, 2019. Pre-order now: http://x.ea.com/58681

For everyone at the EA Play venue another demo was on display and it offered up an additional 10 minutes of footage. Beginning earlier in the Kashyyyk mission, our hero Cal and his robo buddy emerge from the ocean just behind A trio of AT-At walkers. As Cal approaches a rebel LAAT shoots down a Tie Fighter which strikes into the rear of the closets AT-AT. The large behemoth rocks from the impact but is able to recover. Due to the aquatic deployment of the AT-AT, It is covered in numerous vines which Cal then uses to scale the large machine.

Cal is able to hi-jack the machine after infiltration and then uses it to shoot down the remaining walkers while helping Saw storm an imperial landing pad. While the movement of the walker was on rails the player is in full control of the aiming and shooting. At the Pad Cal takes on a shuttle which then crashes into the walker leaving Cal to proceed on foot. During this next segment Cal is trying to find a way to open up a path and encounters a Wyyyschokk spider, which appear in the aired demo further on. After defeating the spider Cal is able to upgrade BD-1 to shock objects into motion. after opening the path the demo aired above begins!

Seeing the walkers emerge from the Kashyyyk ocean was a stellar site and one that hasn’t been done since 2001’s Rogue Squadron 2. The extended demo also showcased different forms of exploration that Fallen Order will employ as well as upgrades for BD-1. In our session the presenter also showcased the upgrade system for Cal that he can access at meditation points. Meditation points are very similar to campfires from the Tomb Raider reboot series. Sadly none of the upgrades were shown but the system looks great. Overall I can’t wait to get my hands on Jedi: Fallen Order when it launches this November. The blending of games like Titanfall, Tomb Raider and Force Unleashed are a combination made in Star Wars heaven and I can’t wait to see more!
