Star Wars Outlaws Physical Version Needs An Online Connection to Install
Star Wars Outlaws just recieved its official story trailer, and the title is set to release on August 30, 2024. The title is also up for pre-purchase across all major platforms, and similar to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, it seems you’ll need an internet connection to install the physical version.
It’s likely the same reason Avatar was locked behind a one-time internet connection requirement to install the day-one patch. Either way, this is a concerning trend for AAA releases, and not being able to play a game you purchased because it isn’t patched shouldn’t be the norm for upcoming releases.
One of the biggest appeals of physical media is the ability to simply insert the disc and start playing the game regardless of its current version. We hope Ubisoft provides a bit more clarity on this because right now, this is based on the box art available at storefronts.
