STAR WARS: REBELLION Finally Gets a ROGUE ONE Expansion
Last year, my brother-in-law introduced me to Fantasy Flight’s Star Wars: Rebellion. Then, after watching Rogue One, we both asked ourselves when they would come out with an expansion based on the movie. Well after waiting about five months, we finally have an official announcement! We do not have exact details, but we know that it is called Rise of the Empire and is currently scheduled for the third quarter of 2017. This puts it tentatively between July and September.
The original game is a very strategic game that at times feels like if Chess and Risk had a child. It is meant to be played with 2-4 players, with 1-2 players controlling the Rebel Alliance and trying to gather support and hide from the Empire, while the Empire is controlled by the other 1-2 players. The Empire is trying to find and obliterate the Rebel scum. This game gives many advantages to the Empire to keep with the theme, but if you play your cards right, the Rebels can survive and claim victory.
Rise of the Empire will add to this already intense game with new characters including Jyn Erso and Director Krennic, new ways to fight the Galactic Empire, new miniatures, and more. Fantasy Flight Games is making promises for this expansion such as introducing a more cinematic combat with new rules and cards. Hopefully, they can keep these promises. Either way, I cannot wait for it to be released!
