Tabletop Games’ Newest Contender Looks To Be Shaping Up
From graphic novels to tabletop games, Magnetic Press announced the formation of Magnetic Press Play, a new imprint focused on tabletop games and transmedia properties. Coming from seemingly nowhere, this new announcement gets us extremely excited with the possibility of some of the most entertaining graphic novels getting the tabletop treatment. The first title to make the leap is Hoang Ngyuen’s popular graphic novel series, Carbon Grey.
Set in an alternate history timeline of World War I era Europe, where the world involves exciting dieselpunk technologies with a hint of the paranormal. If the tabletop iteration of Carbon Grey is anything like the world setting and story of the graphic novel, we are in for a treat!
The tabletop and miniatures industry has received such little love over the last few years that it’s truly refreshing to see something new being brought to the table that not only supports the graphic novel industry but also enables the genre of tabletop gaming to be accessible to a newer audience not yet fully exposed to it. With many other exciting and interesting titles coming to tabletop, we can't wait to find out what else Magnetic Press Play has in store for its graphic novel licenses. Hints have been made for future licenses such as Chaosium’s Call of Cthulhu and several anime series to also be getting a similar treatment… fingers crossed anime fans.
While we have no exact dates on the release of this first entry, it is confirmed that it will be coming this year! More details on these, and additional projects, will be announced in the coming weeks. So, it shouldn’t be long before we get a more detailed future plan from them.
