The Creator of SIMCITY Announces A New Game Called PROXI

During the Unity’s Keynote at Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2018 that happened today, veteran game designer, Will Wright, revealed Proxi, which is an upcoming mobile game created with the Unity engine.

After ten years of hiatus, Wright, in collaboration with Gallium Artists will be developing Proxi as a simulation game that will allow players to construct worlds from their memories. Proxi will be different from Wright’s previous games, which include large franchises such as SimCity, The Sims, and Spore, the last game Wright developed back in 2008.

In Proxi, players will have a blank world, which they can develop by using the infinite resources of their memories that aims to bring out “the inner you,” and players can experience “self-discovery,” Wright says in the game’s trailer (posted above).

Furthermore, Wright and Gallium Artists are partnering with Unity Connect, to launch the Proxi Art Challenge. This contest will give artists a chance to submit their creations and be one of the two winners, who will be getting an opportunity to interview Wright and the team behind Proxi. Lastly, one of the two winners will also get the chance to be hired onto the Proxi team and work as a 3D artist for the game.

The contest will begin today and will run until May 14. The winners of the challenge will be flown out to San Francisco and will undergo a series of interviews for the job. If you think you have what it takes to be a 3D artist on Proxi, you can sign up for the Proxi Art Challenge here
