The Guy Who Popularized Episodic Gaming Is Now Selling Pills To Gamers...And They Seem Sketchy
You may not immediately know the name Scott Miller, but he's actually one of the more influential people in the modern history of gaming. In 1987, with the game Kingdom Of Kroz, Miller tried a method previously unseen in the gaming industry. He released the first episode of the game for free, but then charged for successive episode. The success of that model would change Miller's life and change the model of gaming to what we know today.
Now, he's back, and he's selling GodMode "The Worlds First Memory & Mind Accelerator Brain Vitamin Nootropic for Gamers & Achievers". If you have no idea what that means, check out the video below:
This "brain booster" is supposedly meant to increase your productivity and make you a better gamer. How it does that exactly, I'm not sure because visiting the website boasts the claim that this supplement is supported by 847 published studies all of which are completely unlinkable. What I do know is that you are advised to keep this away from children at all costs, and definitely not take it with caffeine according to the product warning label:
Not intended for persons under the age of 18. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Consult a health care professional prior to consumption if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or are taking any prescription medication. Do not consume with any caffeine or stimulants. Improper use of this product will not improve results and is potentially hazardous to a person's health. Use only as directed.
So what exactly does this supplement do? According to the website, it can grant you the "Yoda-like" calmness, allow you to think like Elon Musk and Steve Jobs, or just help you NEVER LOSE YOUR CAR KEYS AGAIN:
Most people want better memory. Especially memory that can learn fast and recall even faster. GodMode is formulated with specific nootropics that should help you remember where you put your keys, and help you with every other task that requires your memory to work smarter, faster, better: gaming, work, studying, and so on. Great memory is so critical to success--make it better by taking GodMode daily.
As a gamer, I'm always losing my car keys, so that's important to me. How can any gamer deny this pill is as great as it seems when some of gamings best pros take it? What pros you may ask? How about Hungarian Chess Grandmaster Judit Polgár, who is frequently noted as one of the top 50 people in the world with the highest IQ apparently...
If you haven't figured it out by now, I think these pills are a little sketchy, and while I believe MOST gamers would understand that, I think directly advertising to gamers puts you in front of a younger audience who may not understand these pills sound really similar to those dietary supplements that make you feel like you're going to have a heart attack when you're working out.
As for whether or not you should purchase them? I'm personally not on board with it, but if you feel like dropping the $53.95 for 60 pills you can do so right here.
