THE LAST OF US PART II Multiplayer Hopes Revived With Latest Developer Promise

After seeing the story trailer for The Last of Us Part II shown off by Naughty Dog at Playstation’s State of Play, people were quickly hyped back up as we finally knew the release date to this long-awaited title. Then, almost as swiftly as the excitement swept over us, our hopes were dashed to find out that there wouldn’t be any multiplayer in the game. With an outcry for answers from fans of the series and those that felt let down that they won’t get to experience the Factions mode in the latest title, the developers have given us the best answer we could want to hear.

In an official statement by Naughty Dog, light has shown brightly over the hype as it read, “As development began on the evolution of our Factions mode from The Last of Us Part I, the vision of the team grew beyond an additional mode that could be included with our enormous single-player campaign. You will eventually experience the fruits of our team’s online ambition, but not as part of The Last of Us Part II.” This statement alone tells us all we need to know – they want to do so much that they couldn’t just put it all into one game! They did go on to state that the details are still yet to be determined, but they are excited to share more when it’s ready.

Just goes to show that Naughty Dog really is just as big a fan of Factions as the rest of their community as their ambitions go beyond the limitations that their game can hold. Another thing this news brings to light is just how expansive is this story experience going to be? Part I was already a pretty long campaign, but it seems that Part II is going to hold so much more than the original. No matter what they decide to do or what The Last of Us Part II holds, I seriously can’t wait for February to get here!
