The New Season Of FORTNITE Is Here Alongside A Massive Push For Ukranian Relief

Edit: This article originally referred to an item that could remove player structures instantly. This has been corrected to reflect the entire removal of structure-building from Fortnite Battle Royale.

The second season of Fortnite Chapter 3 has begun, and the theme this time around is “Resistance.” The Imagined Order (IO) is assaulting the island from both underground and in the air, and it’s up to the Foundation and the rest of the Seven to stop them.

The trailer for the new season shows off some of the new skins players can expect to find in both the Battle Pass and the Item Shop over the next several weeks. Some of the highlights include more members of the Seven, a brawler who can go toe-to-toe with The Foundation, and several new additions to the game’s Marvel Series like Doctor Strange and Prowler.

In a surprising twist this season, IO has removed the ability to build structures from the game’s Battle Royale mode, shaking up Fortnite’s metagame in unprecedented ways. The trailer also shows characters using the sliding mechanic introduced last season in some new ways, including sliding into people to knock them off their feet and sliding under vehicles.

A season focused on war comes at a challenging time in the real world, though, and Epic Games has pivoted to address the issue. With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine displacing many families and threatening global peace, both Xbox and Epic have declared that all their Fortnite proceeds from now until April 3rd, 2022, will be donated to Ukrainian relief efforts.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
