The STREET FIGHTER Board Game Passed Its $400,000 Goal In Kickstarter
Board games that are based on video games are not a new thing anymore with so many existing titles from Resident Evil to Assassin’s Creed, and although it's technically not a board game, Rocket League’s tabletop game. Starting next year, Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game will be joining the roster after its success in reaching its Kickstarter goal.
In only a few short days, the board game version of Capcom’s fighting game was able to attract 4,032 backers pledging a total of $789,298 as of the writing of this article. The most impressive detail with that number is that the Kickstarter goal is only $400,000 and current pledges have almost doubled that amount, showing that people are indeed hyped for this board game.
In case you’re interested in how it works, here is the official description of the Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game from Kickstarter:
“ Street Fighter: The Miniatures game is an exciting new high-quality pre-painted miniatures-board game hybrid that uses the brand new Universal Tactics System! This system allows 2 to 6 players to simulate fights across Street Fighter’s iconic roster by controlling their favorite characters, playing cards and rolling dice from their specific 40-card Battle Decks!"
One of the most exciting features of the board game are the miniatures representing the characters from Street Fighter. These miniatures are made of the highest quality with “breath-taking special FX sculpts!” I can already imagine collectors buying this board game for the sake of the miniatures, which will be “collector-sized” at 6.5 to 8.5 cm tall.
