The STREET FIGHTER TV Series Moves Forward With New Production Deal
The website Deadline recently reported that a new TV series based on Street Fighter is in the works. If you’re a fan of the iconic fighting game, then this may be exciting news for you, depending on how you feel about video game adaptations, not to mention the live action Street Fighter film.
According to Deadline, the Street Fighter TV series is currently in development by Entertainment One. If you remember, these are the guys who were responsible for the short web series, Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, and now, they’re taking it to the next level and will produce a full TV series.
The executive producer for Street Fighter, Yoshinori Ono told Deadline that:
“After a long search, guided by the team behind Assassin’s Fist, we are delighted to be partnering with a company with the outstanding TV experience of Mark Gordon and eOne. They have the credentials to help us launch a faithful adaptation of Street Fighter as a major TV series.”
The new series will revolve around the main plot of Street Fighter II and will star Ryu, Ken, Guile, and Chun-Li, as they hunt down M. Bison and be recognized in the World Warrior fighting tournament.
Although a Street Fighter TV series seems like an interesting idea, I am still hoping that someone would take over the abandoned TV adaptation of Resident Evil. Check out what the series could have looked like in the concept preview here.
