Ubisoft Forward Reveals Future Of ASSASSINS CREED And Unveils Next Title

Yesterday was the Ubisoft Forward presentation from Ubisoft, where they announced plans for upcoming games and releases for current titles. This year’s presentation had a lot of interesting information and reveals, but some of the most exciting is regarding the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. With 6 different reveals for the next few years, fans of the franchise will have lots to look forward to! Here is a roundup of all the Assassin’s Creed information from Ubisoft Forward.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla- The Last Chapter

Bringing a close to the latest iteration of Assassin’s Creed, Valhalla’s final DLC update will finish Eivor’s story and wrap up the title in preparation for the next game, Mirage. While not a lot of information on it has been revealed it is expected to be somewhat of a victory lap for the game, checking back in on already met characters and introducing new historical figures. This DLC will be free and released later this year.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage - Coming 2023

The big tease that came before the Ubisoft Forward event was that the next iteration of Assassin’s Creed would be based in Baghdad, “return to the roots” of the franchise, and feature Basim Ibn Ishaq from Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. With the full reveal during Ubisoft Forward including a cinematic trailer, it was exciting to see new life breathed into what some consider a stagnant series. The mood of the trailer definitely brings players back to games like Assassin’s Creed II or Brotherhood, games with a much more direct narrative focus than the more recent titles. Mirage is currently available for pre-order and will release in 2023.

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade

Assassin’s Creed’s first foray into the mobile gaming market, the yet unnamed Codename Jade will see players in China for a unique RPG experience. With the promise of the players being able to create their own unique assassin, it will be interesting to see how this project develops as we get more news closer to release. Parkouring on the Great Wall of China or the Forbidden City is certainly an exciting idea, but what will the mobile platform mean for the gameplay experience? Only time will tell.

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red

With Mirage being a return to the narrative-driven experience of the early Assassin’s Creed games, the Ubisoft Studio in charge of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will be launching a full open-world RPG based in Japan. Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red will feature that open-world RPG gameplay of recent titles from Assassin’s Creed: Origins, but all we know is what is featured in the short reveal trailer. There is sure to be more news to come after the release of Mirage

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe

Very unexpected, Ubisoft also announces they will be releasing an Assassin’s Creed game that defies all the genre expectations thus far and will be a completely new experience. Codename Hexe has fans already tearing apart the short reveal trailer for clues on what players can expect, and the name Hexe as well as the setup of the trailer seems to preclude a darker game, perhaps centered around the witch-hunts in Europe during the 16th century. More news will be revealed in time, but players are already trying to guess how different this game will be from others announced at Ubisoft Forward based on phrasing by Ubisoft tweets, presenters, and even the pan speed of the trailer.

Never change, game fans!

Netflix Series For Assassin’s Creed + Netflix Games

Pairing up with the media super-power Netflix, Ubisoft has revealed an upcoming live-action series following the events of the Assassin’s Creed games, with showrunner Jeb Stuart. While not much has been revealed about the show itself, Ubisoft has called it “a genre-bending action-adventure” that will “delight fans [of the franchise]”

Along with this, it is revealed that Ubisoft will be bringing some games to Netlix’s game platform, from both other Ubisoft projects, and of course Assassin’s Creed. While the details of these games are not clear, they will be running exclusively in tandem with Netflix.

Bonus: Project Infinity

At the end of the Assassin’s Creed showcase, Ubisoft royalty and VP Brand Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté spoke a little about the planned Infinity platform. Basically described as a hub for all things Assassin’s Creed, it will connect all the individual games to one desktop as well as include a standalone multiplayer experience built for these games. As of now, there is no release date, complete name, or any idea of how it will work, but from a screenshot of the showcase it will release around the time of Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red and Codename Hexe.

With all that information for loyal Hidden Ones and new fans of the series alike, it looks like Assassin’s Creed will not be slowing down anytime soon.
