Who Is Gantzthedemon And How Should Arrowhead Game Studios Handle Him?

Helldivers 2 brings a breath of fresh air to the gaming scene, boasting an original concept and a strong sense of community. There's very little to complain about in this game, whether you're battling bugs or taking on the Automaton army – it's the kind of game you could play all day. One standout feature of Helldivers 2 is its strictly player versus environment (PVE) focus, a rarity in this genre. Personally, I find this aspect to be a key factor in its greatness, though opinions may vary.

A player named Gantzthedemon has taken an unconventional approach, deliberately causing harm to teammates in a PVE game. What initially began as a joke has escalated, and if not addressed properly, it could become a significant issue.

Gantz, or someone posing as Gantz, has taken to TikTok in a role-play scenario, asserting that he kills Helldivers because they are the true enemy, and the Terminids are merely defending themselves. I see this as an opportunity for the game developers to incorporate Gantz into the lore. With his permission, they could integrate his character as a "rogue Helldiver code named Gantz" who turned against his own because he believes they are fighting the wrong enemy. This could be enriched with audio logs or even a random encounter with a squad of rogue Helldivers as an optional mission, adding a dynamic twist to the gameplay.

Despite these creative possibilities, intentional friendly fire should not be rewarded or tolerated. Implementing penalties, such as tracking a certain amount of friendly fire damage across multiple matches, could discourage this behavior. Personally, I've managed to complete most games with zero friendly fire damage, and I believe promoting a cooperative and positive gaming experience should be a priority.
