Xbox Showcase Unveils Beloved RPG FABLE
Fable revealed a cinematic trailer at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase. There was no gameplay at all which isn’t a good sign since the game has reportedly been in development for quite some time but further investigation of the trailer could point to a promising product for both Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios.
Fable is a franchise known for its absurd British humor. The trailer showcases a Jack and the Beanstalk reference for the overall story where the main character kills a giant after climbing the stalk. This could mean that the game will take a more parody approach to the fantasy genre, specifically fairy tales.
Making satire of classic stories isn’t quite the route Fable has taken in the past, but it could work with fans if done right. The franchise has told dark comedy stories that felt emotional and full of stakes one second then goofy the next. A game focused more on making fun of fairy tales like Shrek could make the whole franchise pull a Saints Row and become too goofy.
There isn’t much to say about the game based on the trailer so take it with a grain of salt but hopefully the game is great on release.
Fable will be released on Game Pass at launch.
