Earlier this month AtGames announced their refresh to their classic Atari and Genesis flash back consoles and handhelds. The real story this year, however, is that they are also introducing new premium versions of the hardware with advanced features!
The Atari Flashback Gold 8 includes
- 2 2.4 ghz wireless controllers with the option to use original controllers.
- HDMI output at 720p with the option of using scanlines.
- Save states
- Rewind
- 120 games
A special Activision Edition is also coming that includes 10 additional games over the standard Gold 8.
The Sega Genesis Flashback includes
- 2 2.4 ghz wireless controllers with the option to use original controllers.
- HDMI output at 720p with the option to use scanlines.
- Save states
- Rewind
- 85 games
The Sega Genesis Flashback is coming equipped with a built-in cartridge port so those of us with real games can still play them on the new system. While not compatible with every Genesis game released, this is still a wonderful bonus that would have been welcomed on systems like the NES Classic and upcoming SNES Classic or even the Atari Flashback 8 Gold. I look forward to testing these higher end systems out compared to my RGB originals when they release this September!
