Classic RPG .HACK//G.U. LAST RECODE Released For Nintendo Switch

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the .hack franchise, Bandai Namco has announced their release of  .hack//G.U. Last Recode,  a definitive compilation edition of CyberConnect2’s classic action RPG is now available for the Nintendo Switch.

Last Recode was initially released for PC and Playstation 4 in 2017 for the franchise’s 15th birthday,  combining three titles originally created for the Playstation 2 way back between 2006 and 2007. This title includes the addition of newer, prettier graphics and a fourth chapter to the story.

The .hack franchise sets up a novel premise. You play a character who themselves is playing a game. A vast MMORPG known as ‘The World’ has swept the globe in its popularity, but strange phenomena inside the game appear to be affecting things in the real world as well. In .hack//G.U. you play as Haseo, a player on the trail of a mysterious individual whose killing of his friend’s avatar has drastic consequences in their offline lives. Doing so will involve fighting your way through a virtual world that is beginning to fall apart at the seams.

.hack//G.U.Last Recode is now available from the Nintendo eShop. Special Begins Edition bundles are available exclusively from the Bandai Namco online store,  which includes the Switch edition, soundtrack, and concept art booklet.
