Dan Borth is Trying to Bring Darth Maul Game Back to Life

Over the weekend Dan Borth from Red Fly Studio did an AMA (ask me anything) on the Gaming Sub-Reddit. The whole interview was to answer questions about the canceled Darth Maul game that was being developed before the closure of LucasArts. He stated that he and his team were working on an unofficial prototype to take to the big wigs over at EA Games, as they are currently handling the Star Wars franchise for the next few years. It'd be awesome to see new life pumped into this game, as Darth Maul is one character everybody wants to hear more about. One of the greatest sins of the prequels was killing off Maul in The Phantom Menace as opposed to making him a lingering force throughout the whole trilogy.

Here are some of the best quotes from the AMA:

[The game will show] young Maul age 9 or 11 to right before Episode 1.
We wanted to show what he went through to become a Sith. Showcase the torture the Emperor put him through. Show how you as the player would have made the same mistakes and ended up a Sith.
Lucas had [Anakin's] story right in front of him. FREE Your mother who is a slave. Jedi council says NO. Anakin says "No fuck you. I'm freeing my mom and the rest of the slaves" plus you get to see Watto die. Awesome sauce and I'm 100% with Anakin at this point.
Playing as a young Maul you would (hopefully) feel his pain and rage as he was brutally exposed day by day by The Emperor.
We have been burning a candle for this game since it was killed in hopes we can get it turned back on again. IF that is to happen we need to approach EA with a demo that will impress them. I think we have that or are close to it. Still it is completely not up to us.

The full AMA can be seen on Reddit. If this peaks your interest I recommend reading through the whole thing. I'll leave a link just bellow. Hopefully enough interest can be drummed up that EA will reignite the flame for this dead project!

Game Informer's Andrew Reiner and Joe Juba talk about what happened to the ambitious Darth Maul game from Red Fly Studio and show off gameplay footage.

Red Fly's PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U title would have been a stealth action game, inspired by the Batman: Arkham franchise, according to GameInformer's May 2014 Issue and would have focused on a story involving Darth Krayt and Darth Talon, characters popular and well known for the Star Wars fanatic.
