Hideo Kojima Believes DEATH STRANDING Will Be His "Best Work"

Hideo Kojima wholeheartedly believes Death Stranding to be his "best work yet" according to Digital Spy. This news comes from a PS4 keynote where the developer spoke alongside his game director Mark Cerny about the upcoming game. Kojima believes this due to the faith in his game director and the fact that he is truly in charge this time around...

"So far, when I've been making games, I've had to give up on something or at least compromise on something in order to get things done...But this time, working with you [Mark Cerny] and you bringing the state of the art technologies, we will get around that [usual problem]...I'm very confident that we're working towards something completely new and that no-one has seen so far. This will be my best work so far, I'm very confident about that."

It's really hard to question a guy like Kojima when it comes to quality and his track record in gaming, but part of me wonders if his quest to make his "best work" may prove more disaster than fruitful. I just think about how long he spends on his games as it is and wonder how long it will take when he doesn't have anyone but himself to say "okay, that's enough, time to ship the game."

Everyone has trouble fully realizing when their own work is "good enough" and something tells me Kojima will struggle with that problem more than most of us. I still imagine the game will be great, but it won't do me much good if it releases near the end of the consoles lifecycle! Please don't take too long Kojima! I want to see Norman Reedus weep while holding a baby!

As it stands right now it's possible we will see Death Stranding on PS4 and PC in 2017, but considering the game's stage of development it's also highly likely it'll release early to mid-2018.
