ICYMI: OVERWATCH 2 Season 2 Details Revealed

Blizzard’s revamp of its acclaimed hero-shooter is gearing up for a second season filled with new features. Overwatch 2’s first season was plagued by a notably rocky launch and fan outcry over cosmetic prices. But over the course of its first season, many of these issues have subsided, and the community is eager to dig into some new content.

Overwatch 2’s Season 2 will feature a new Battle Pass, new maps entering the rotation, and limited-time events with unique rewards. The Battle Pass features a Greek pantheon theme for the character skins this time around. The final reward is a customizable Junker Queen skin that turns the aggressive tank into the God of Lighting, Zeus.

The new season will also bring a new hero into the mix: Ramattra. Ramattra is a new Tank hero who can switch between two different forms to keep opponents on their toes. His attacks also have piercing abilities, allowing him to deal damage and push enemies through barriers. This makes him an excellent foil for Reinhart and Sigma mains.

Returning limited-time events include Winter Wonderland and Lunar New Year, and players will be able to earn character skins by completing certain challenges. Season 2 will also introduce a new event called Battle for Olympus that will expand on the Battle Pass’ Greek theme.

Overwatch 2’s Season 2 update comes in the midst of Xbox’s struggle to purchase the game’s parent company, Activision Blizzard. Xbox has faced numerous challenges for its acquisition from international regulators and rival game company Sony. All the while, developers and departments with in Activision Blizzard continue to fight for workers rights and unionization.

Overwatch 2 is available now as a free-to-play game for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Battlenet. Season 2 begins on December 6th, 2022.
