MAFIA DEFINITIVE EDITION: Releasing A Game In A Pandemic

Join us Wednesday, July 22 for the extended gameplay reveal of Mafia: Definitive Edition with insights from Hangar 13 President Haden Blackman. Mafia: Defini...

New information about Mafia Definitive Edition has been dropping the last few days over at the official Mafia Twitter account. The tweets I’m going to talk about leave me both optimistic and a little bummed out. On July 7th they said that they sadly came to the decision to delay the game and push its release back to September 25th from it’s initial release date of August 28th. This doesn’t come as quite a surprise as the game was just announced in mid May, and was set up to be released at the end of August. With the ongoing pandemic (which they cite as their reason for moving the date), it was only a matter of time. It’s a terrible situation we as a planet are in right now, and I’m sure it’s a very tough job trying to promote and finish a game during it. They sound obviously upset that they have to move the date back, and I do feel for them.

On the bright side, in the same tweet that they delayed the game, they actually announced that we would be getting a gameplay reveal on the 22nd of this month. Following that tweet, they also gave a very short teaser that looks absolutely fantastic. To say that I’m excited would be an understatement. I have always been a fan of the series and can’t wait for this game to release. If waiting until the end of September means that the game will be perfect, then that is totally fine with me. We don’t need another repeat of Mafia 3’s launch.

First Cyberpunk 2077, and now this. Are you bummed out about the delay?
