New Game Mode Comes To GHOSTWIRE: TOKYO Alongside Xbox Launch

One of the better games to launch in 2022 was Ghostwire: Tokyo by Bethesda and Tango Gameworks. This well-reviewed title brought a unique action-adventure game for players to take on the spirit world as they master the art of Etheral Weaving. Now, they are looking to bring a free update and a brand new game mode to the game called Spider’s Thread, expanding what this game has to offer even further. Best of all, Xbox players will soon get to enjoy this game as well!

The Spider’s Thread game mode tasks players to navigate a 30-stage gauntlet selected from over 120 hand-crafted levels with one simple goal: get to the end. As players clear challenges and complete stages, they will unlock more skills and earn in-game currency to spend on upgrades.

As for the free update, it adds new locations to visit in the ghost-riddled streets of supernatural Tokyo, including the local Middle School area. These new locations come with new missions for players to take on and uncover more mysteries. The main game’s story will also feature extended cutscenes, granting players a deeper look into the plot as they play through Akito & KK’s adventure to stop the menacing Hannya from destroying Tokyo. There are also dangerous new visitors like the invisible Silent Gaze or elusive Retribution. To defeat these new enemies, Akito will receive new skills including, Charge Rush and devastating Counter Attack.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is available now for PC via Steam and PlayStation 5, but the free Spider’s Thread update comes to all platforms on April 12th, alongside the release on Xbox Series X|S. It will also be added to Game Pass for both PC and Xbox users. You can check out more details on the update on Bethesda’s blog.
