Fallback promises to bring a new perspective to the roguelike genre. At least, that’s the impression from the gameplay trailer. A side-scrolling adventure that shifts position in a three-dimensional world. It’s visually distinct, and it feels appropriate for the tight corridors and cramped tunnels that would comprise an underground facility built to withstand the annihilation of the human race.
From what’s been revealed so far, the apocalypse pushed humanity underground, but now it’s time to fight your way to the surface. AI robots and other subterranean threats will threaten your survival as you lead the rising rebellion toward hope and a new life. Different classes will provide unique opportunities in attacking the deadly machines around you and defending your fellow man, but each one has the strength to successfully reach the surface.
With any roguelike, dying is only a step in the long journey ahead. Fallback releases October 11th, and the fight for humanity’s future begins.
