Old School Survival Horror Indie Title HOLSTIN Gives Off The Creepiest Vibes

Survival horror titles have been modernized by the likes of titles such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill. The utter creepiness of the dark and unknown atmosphere makes up a great mixture for a horror game. Unfortunately, many long-time fans of the genre think it has been “actionized” to appease modern-day gaming trends and has veered away from its original old-school roots. Sonka, the developer of Holstin, is planning to deliver a survival horror game that sticks to its classic-inspired roots but with a modern twist.

Holstin is a psychological survival horror game set in an eerie, isolated 90s Polish town. The town has been consumed by an ominous presence, one that seems to be lurking everywhere. You’ve come looking for answers, but everyone seems possessed by this threat. Your goal is to explore the town, interrogate locals and fight ungodly manifestations to get to the truth.

The game seems to be narratively driven and will have fully voiced lines in both Polish and English. The story definitely seems intriguing and I am curious to learn more about the mystery of this town and the ominous lurking threat consuming the locals. Players must scavenge for scarce supplies and weapons to fight off the twisted monstrosities now roaming the streets. You play as an average person fighting for your will to live.

Holstin does not currently have a release date and is under development for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. Players can wishlist the game on Steam now to try and gain access to its first demo in January 2023.
