Attention Toonami Faithfuls and otaku’s: cancel your Saturday night/Sunday morning plans, get your blanket ready to camp around the TV and fire up those DVRs and VCRs; a classic anime series is returning to [adult swim]. Paranoia Agent, — a 13 episode series by Madhouse animation studio and directed by late Japanese animator Satoshi Kon — will be playing on Toonami. This is the first time the series has played on American television in 15 years. The series (which has been re-licensed by Funimation) is about random people in Tokyo being attacked by a boy with a baseball bat (dubbed Lil’ Slugger) and how these incidents surprisingly improve their lives. Part satire, part mystery, part psychological thriller, the series has been compared to the work of David Lynch and is considered to be a masterwork!
Both the original version and the English dub are widely acclaimed! Each episode is expected to run EXACTLY ONCE over 13 weeks; there will be no reruns, so don’t miss ‘em! Paranoia Agent starts April 25th at 1:00 am EST (Late Saturday night, going into Sunday morning).
