Recover The Light In DESTINY 2: THE WITCH QUEEN

Bungie showed up to The Game Awards last night with a new trailer for their upcoming expansion for Destiny 2 titled The Witch Queen. The new trailer was a mix of live-action footage and in-game capture from the new campaign’s opening mission and digs even further into the mystery of how this long-awaited enemy has managed to harness the power that gives Guardians their extraordinary gifts.

The trailer focuses on the mission report from an unarmored Titan-class Guardian who recounts her team’s mission on Mars. On the planet the Titan and her team encountered an enemy Hive Knight that could use the same powers as the Guardians, even going so far as to resurrect themselves after death.

There a lot of smaller details in the trailer as well, from new combat features to information on the new campaign’s story. Mars has been missing from Destiny 2 for over a year now, so it’s safe to assume that the location will return for at least the first mission of this expansion. The trailer also shows off some of the new Void subclass changes and the glaive weapon in action against enemy combatants.

Savathun, the titular Witch Queen herself, makes an appearance toward the very end in what appears to be a boss encounter for the mission. She shows off her character design in full, unfurling her moth-like wings and wielding Light power against the Guardians just like Knight did earlier.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen will launch on February 22, 2022, for Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 & 5, and PC via Steam.
