Initially working alone on their game, DarkStone Digital has partnered with DreadXP to get their upcoming horror game The Mortuary Assistant released. This game picked up initial attraction near the end of 2021 when they released a free demo on Steam for interested horror fans to get their own first impression. Now that they have partnered with a publisher, we even got a release date!
In this game, players take on the role of Rebecca Owens, a to-be morgue worker that just received her mortuary doctorate and has taken on an apprenticeship at River Fields Mortuary. Over the past several months you have logged many hours aiding the Mortician in daily tasks along with learning the ins and outs of the embalming process as well as how to properly handle and care for the deceased. One night, you get a call to come in and handle some new work that has just come in, but something isn’t quite right this time…
Prepare for the darkest night of your life when The Mortuary Assistant releases this August 2nd on PC via Steam. There you will perform embalmings, handle the various jobs around the mortuary, and exorcise demonic forces. All in a day’s work.
