If you’re a die-hard fan of the Serious Sam franchise, buckle up because you’re in for a treat! A new standalone expansion for the franchise titled Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem is releasing this January 25th. Croteam returns as co-developers with Timelock Studio, and Devolver Digital publishing the project.
This standalone sees Sam dropped into a new battle against his strongest foes yet. With Russian landscapes set as the game’s backdrop, Sam is on a mission to put the traitorous general Brand to justice. Though Sam is quite the fighter, Brand stands as a pretty formidable foe in his own right. There are five total missions set in various uniquely different locations to keep the gameplay fresh.
And of course, Sam is nothing without his firepower, so expect a vast array of new gadgets and weapons to engage with as he blasts everything in his path in the name of freedom. There is also a slew of different secrets to find in the large new map so keep your eyes keen on your surroundings.
We had a chance to test out Serious Sam 4 in 2020 and didn’t come out of it that impressed. Hopefully, this new expansion redeems the modern era of the franchise, giving players something to return for.
