SPLITGATE Is Getting Its Last Major Update As The Developers Focus On A New Game

1047 Games has officially announced that Splitgate will get its last major iteration on September 15th as the team looks forward to a new project. This update will bring their portal-filled multiplayer shooter title out of beta as it takes players into the next season, which adds a new, free Battle Pass featuring an infinite number of levels with new characters, skins, and more.

With more than 18 million downloads, Splitgate is one of the most successful online games in recent years. Available as a free-to-play title on PC via Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, along with cross-play, this title is going to continue to entertain players as it continues to get standard maintenance and new seasons in the future. They guarantee the games continued support with the promise of weekly featured playlists in Splitgate and stated that fans can anticipate continued item drops.

1047 Games has recruited some of the industry’s top talent and continues to do so as the studio now turns its attention to a fresh, new Splitgate project that is being built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. Here’s the official take from Ian Proulx, CEO of 1047 Games, on the team’s decision to turn their focus on this new project:

“After careful consideration and much deliberation the 1047 team has determined that in order to build the game that fans deserve – and to build it in a way that isn’t trying to retrofit our existing game – we are turning our attention away from iterative, smaller updates and going all-in to focus on a new game in the Splitgate universe which will present revolutionary, not just evolutionary, changes to the gameplay. Splitgate will remain online and supported for our dedicated community who have been the backbone of our studio from our earliest playtests on PC. Our community means everything to us and we can’t wait to share what’s next with them.”

For those who love Splitgate, this is the finished version of the game you have been looking forward to! The game officially stands completed and now the developers are looking to flesh out the universe the game takes place in. What more could you ask for? Aren’t you excited to learn about what’s next?
