Sucker Punch Officially Announces GHOST OF TSUSHIMA DIRECTOR’S CUT

In a blog post on PlayStation.com this week Sucker Punch Productions revealed Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The Director’s Cut will come with a host of upgrades and new features for the 2020 game, including a brand new expansion set on the island of Iki. This expansion will feature a story with “deeply personal stakes” as well as “brand new environments to explore, new armor for Jin as well as his horse, new mini-games, new techniques, new enemy types, and much more.”

While the Director’s Cut will launch on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, the PS5 version of the game will come with some additional features courtesy of the new system’s more powerful hardware. The Japanese voiced version of the game will now have lip sync on PS5, a feature fans have been asking for since the game launched in July of 2020.

PlayStation 5 players will also have the opportunity to play the game with “4k resolution options” and “framerates targeting 60 fps” in addition to improved 3D audio and load times. Save data transfer from the PS4 to the PS5 will be available. The multiplayer mode, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, will also be getting a free update alongside the Director’s Cut with more details coming in the next few weeks.

The Director’s Cut will release on August 20, 2021 for $69.99 on PS5 and $59.99 on PS4. In addition to these purchasing options there are also upgrades available for anyone who already owns the original game on PS4. These players can pre-order the upgrade to the Director’s Cut today, and starting August 20 they can then upgrade to the PS5 version for $9.99. Owners of the base Ghost of Tsushima experience will be able to upgrade directly to the PS5 Director’s Cut for $29.99.
