THE PERSISTENCE Leaps From PSVR To Other Platforms

The Persistence from Firesprite Ltd is making its way to other consoles. Originally a PSVR title, the space-horror game is launching May 21st for multiple platforms.

In this survival thriller, you must survive aboard a deep space colony starship in the year 2521. Similar to games like Dead Space and Alien: Isolation, this ship is overrun with horrific monsters intent on killing you and any other living thing on the vessel.

You’ll have to explore the spaceship and stay alive.

And The Persistence features a lot of gameplay mechanics that will make the experience tense and immersive during every minute.

Players control a clone of security officer Zimri Elder, and the rogue-like design means Zimri’s consciousness will be uploaded into a new host body every time it experiences a fatal encounter.

And the architecture of the ship rearranges with every reawakening, due to the vessel’s self-configuring microstructure. It’s a new blueprint—a new horrifying puzzle—every time. That will surely excite players who are looking for an engaging survival-horror experience.

Thankfully, the advances in technology do not stop with cloning and spaceships. Players will be able to resequence Zimri’s DNA—this allows for upgraded health, toughness, and abilities that will prove crucial to your survival.

Outside of the game’s narrative, Firesprite has also devised an ingenious way to bring multiplayer functionality to The Persistence. If you connect a phone or tablet to the game, one to two players can control Solex, the ship’s engineering system, in realtime. With the ability to interact with the deadly creatures, the doors on the spaceship, and the internal security defenses, the player(s) can change the game, literally.

Looking at everything in The Persistence, I’m excited about the launch on May 21st. It will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Let’s keep it up with VR titles being adapted for console play. Half-Life: Alyx, anyone?
