TOTAL WAR: WARHAMMER III Unveils New Faction, Chaos Undivided

Chaos daemons and princes, oh my! Creative Assembly has put out another trailer for Total War: WARHAMMER III and it is exciting. With the announcement of most of the in-game factions and Lords out of the way, the developers and the publisher, SEGA, have jumped outside the box with the reveal of a new faction and Lord. Chaos Undivided, and the daemon prince who leads them, is showcased in the newest trailer. Known as the Godslayer, this legendary lord helms the Chaos faction with the most flexibility.

A faction beholden to none, they can recruit any number of the different units of the other chaos factions and stay independent or choose to dedicate themselves to one of the four Chaos gods. In a series first, the daemon prince legendary lord will be heavily customizable, with different choices of weapons, armor, and even wings depending on which Chaos god they align most with. All of these changes will also change how the lord behaves in battle and on the campaign map, adding buffs or certain abilities based on what the player chooses. This customization will filter onto the campaign map as well, having the player dedicate different towns to each god and being able to recruit their units into the player’s armies.

Do you want an epic prince of Khorne, with heavy armor and multiple large weapons? Or maybe a mage of Tzeentch, wielding a staff and casting spells to destroy your enemies. If you wanted a huge winged ogre-looking creature that vomits corrosive bile in an ode to the Chaos god Nurgle, WARHAMMER III will allow you to do just that. With the addition of this player-customizable faction leader, Creative Assembly puts the onus on the player to not only create the ultimate lord but also build their faction exactly how they want. While this news has players clamoring for more info, and early copies of the game, it will be interesting to see how this new faction changes the landscape of the Total War: WARHAMMER series.

Total War: WARHAMMER III releases on PC to Xbox Gamepass, Steam, and the Epic Games Store on February 17th. Who will you play as first? Let us know in the comments!
