Deep Silver and 5 Lives Studios have announced a roadmap of new content coming to their survival game, Windbound! The collection of content will be rolling out between Q4 2020 through Q1 of 2021 and come free to all players! It will all be released in 3 separate updates with each including new mechanics, cosmetics, and game modes. The first content update is currently live and features a new Witch Skin that adds new enhancements to Kara’s abilities. it’s composed of 3 new equipable items. The Witch’s Hat (potions last longer), a Witch’s Outfit (respawn near death), and the Witch’s Staff (unbreakable and fires homing fireballs upon meleeing).
This update also sees the implementation of the game’s Photo and Endless Modes as well. Photo Mode allows players to pause gameplay and snap some pics in-game by posing Kara, changing the time of day, and adding filters to their soul’s desire. There are 20 different poses, expressions, hats, and accessories for gamers to experiment with to get the best combination. The Endless Mode is called Eternal Voyage and offers no end to the gameplay. I reviewed Windbound when it was released and my biggest critique about the game was that it’s a survival game that had an ending to it. It made the survival aspects feel unwarranted at that point. I’m glad to see that this is finally being remedied thus making the survival parts feel more at home.
The next update in Q4 will include skins for Kara, a Free-Sailing Mode, and an upgraded Nautilus tower experience. Early Q1 in 2021 with see a further expansion of the Nautilus tower experience and also add new enemy types, combat moves, and gameplay mechanics via the “corruption system”. Additional details are said to be released in Q1 of 2021. In addition to these announcements, players can now purchase the pre-order bonus if they’d purchased the game after the bonus expired. If interested, you can purchase Kara’s Ancestral Gear for $2.99 on any platform as of now!
