Dead by Daylight by the developer and publisher Behaviour Interactive returns with their 27th Chapter titled Tools of Torment brings survivors back into modern times. In the new chapter, you can step into the field in the boots of a new killer referred to as The Skull Merchant, or you can test your stealth skills and the bond between the new survivor duo, siblings Thalita and Renato Lyra. Tools of Torment also brings along an update to the Shelter Woods map adding the Skull Merchants Hunting Camp.
The Skull Merchant, known as Adriana Imai, is the first modern technology-based slasher in Dead by Daylight. In her day-to-day life, she is a very wealthy executive for a technology company, buying and absorbing smaller companies to keep the public perception of power. But behind the sinister scenes, she has an alter ego that has quite the taste for blood. She becomes an apex hunter where she uses her wealth to find search for an adversary to stand a challenge.
The new Killer’s main power is called Eyes in the Sky, a new milestone for Dead by Daylight. The new ability puts modern tech in the power of a killer’s hands for the first time, allowing her to position 4 drones to keep the survivors under her surveillance. While she has the means to purchase the best drones available it is still a game to her, keeping it connected she crafts each drone from the skulls of a former victim. Survivors will have to work together and strategize on different ways to avoid and disable these drones if they don’t want to give away their position to the Skull Merchant.
The Lyra siblings are the first-ever sibling duo to be pulled into the Fog together. A perfect contrast to the Skull Merchant’s ruthless brutality, the Lyra’s were a shining beacon of light in their community in Brazil. The siblings ran a kite-flying business which they used to mentor the children in their hometown. The duo is well known for their positivity, creativity, and their caring nature. Being a team is something they have always been used to and this along with their other qualities is best reflected in the unique Teamwork Perks that will benefit those working closely together.
The Skull Merchant has set up her deadly hunting camp in the already existing map of MacMillian Estate’s Shelter Woods. The camp is formed of connected shipping containers dropped into the area. She has put together the perfect base to show her cunning yet twisted personality. In a true representation of Imai’s twisted world, there is an upper container that is clean and luxurious, made to look like an executive suite. Beneath it is the grim workshop of the Skull Merchant. Doused in blood and oil, this is where she crafts her tools and houses her numerous gruesome trophies acquired in the hunt.
Dead by Daylight: Tools of Torment will be available on March 7th, 2023 on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
