The Division Heartland was set to be a free-to-play entry in the series that was previously under development, but in the shadows of the new Assassins Creed: Shadows reveal, Ubisoft decided to announce the title is now cancelled.
Heartland would have been a great way for players to experience the world of The Division, and as a free-to-play entry could have been a great way to get more players to discover the first two entries.
When we last looked at gameplay, the game looked very promising and just like the original entries, also encouraged players to go at it with friends rather than going solo.
The reason for the canellation has been cited as “to focus resources on bigger opportunities.”
It is definitely a big loss for fans of The Division who were hoping to enjoy a new story in the universe, and perhaps other players. Unfortunately, this is where the story of Heartland ends.
