Policies and Standards

Respect

Our staff writes for a readership that spans a lot of countries, backgrounds, and beliefs, and we take that seriously. Opinion pieces are part of what we do, and by their nature some of them you may disagree with. Disagreement is welcome and often the point. Harassment and hate speech are not, from our writers or in our comments, and we respect all.

Reviews

Review copies reach us a few different ways. Sometimes a publisher or developer sends a code. Sometimes nobody does and we buy the game ourselves. Either route gets the same treatment, and receiving a free copy buys nothing beyond the copy itself. Every review is one person's opinion, written under their own name, and we'd rather run two staff members disagreeing about the same game than pretend the site speaks with a single voice.

Embargoes

We honor embargo terms as closely as possible for the sake of all PR firms, publishers, and the artists behind the games and media we cover. If you spot something on this site that appears to break an embargo, tell us through the contact form and we'll look into it.

AI

We don't publish generative AI content and we're not interested in doing so. Our articles are written by people who have a passion for what they do even if some news bits and announcements may not bring us the passion we sometimes desire. We do use AI tools the way most workplaces now do for spelling and grammar checks, and some behind-the-scenes technical work like coding tasks that never touches what you read.

Ads and Guest Posts

We are a small team with a quickly growing site and we want to keep growing! In today’s challenging market and economy, we need to keep the lights on and pay our staff a meager but fair wage to keep this project going for everyone. With almost weekly news of heartbreaking layoffs and buyouts, we want to keep this the same cozy home for our staff and audience for many years to come. Please see detailed explanation and info here

Updates

We will continue to update this page as necessary realizing that the world and this industry is moving faster than most can keep up with.
