2023 is one of the best years in gaming’s history, and it’s still far from over. DUSK, one of the best retro-shooters on the market is not only making its way to the PlayStation 5, but a free HD overhaul is essentially remastering it, giving it a ridiculous glow-up that feels not only consistent with the original’s style, but adds a host of new animations, and complete remakes of enemies, and weapon models. New Blood Interactive has shown off the HD release in a comparison trailer today, and it looks fantastic.
It’s not just the enemies and weapon models that have recieved an uplift, but enviornments, textures, and visual effects as well. What’s more is that even though this is a substantial update, it’s completely optional, DRM free, and has full mod support through the Steam workshop.
DUSK HD is coming to PC through Steam on 11th December 2023. HD or not though, this is the perfect time of the year for some spooky DUSK action, and if you somehow haven’t played it yet, it’s currently 60% off on Steam.
As a massive fan of DUSK, I’m stunned by how significant the changes are, and the fact that it’s free is refreshing to hear, especially after how much different publishers are charging for remasters with barely any improvements, cough MGS Collection VOL 1 cough.
I also appreciate how this update is completely optional and doesn’t overwrite the existing release, which can often be problematic for users who prefer the original for technical or artistic reasons.
