FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH PC Review: Paradise Found

Intro and Gameplay

The Final Fantasy series is older than me. There, I said. That fact doesn’t stop me from enjoying the f#*$ out of almost every entry that comes along Rebirth included. For those that are not well versed with the series, clear back in the PS1 days, Final Fantasy VII took the world by storm and is still widely considered one of the best if not THEE best FF games out there. Square Enix has been remaking the game in chunks and this is the second morsel we get to enjoy.

Being able to select difficulty levels and classic or active battle systems really makes the gameplay department as you explore and battle your way through this epic journey. While there are moments of bombast, beauty and even a bit of boredom, overall this is an epic journey that every FF fan both old and new should venture on. PC options and gameplay with controller or mouse or keyboard is near flawless.

Graphics and Sound

Square Enix are masters of their craft with Rebirth showing that in spades. From dark and grimy landscapes to bright sun and sand, there is something for everyone to drool over in this stunning game. With PC graphics including NVIDIA DLSS and plenty of other settings, this game truly shines in the art and graphics department. Sad thing? Some pretty big graphic glitches exist in this initial PC release. I am sure they will be patched out but they weren’t present in the previous PC entry

The sound is equally impressive with some incredible voice acting mixed with some cheesy ones as well. Music overall is a delight. Yay for amazing JPRG soundtracks that are the gift that keeps on givin’ even past Christmas.

Feedback and Verdict

Rebirth was already killer on PS5 and PS5 Pro but besides the graphic glitches present on this PC release, it’s a game that nobody should miss. Yes, there are some slower moments that drag the score down a bit but still, these are minor nitpicks in the grand scheme of things. With a crazy story and a mix of almost every emotion, Rebirth PC is the definitive version of a modern classic. We can’t wait to see the final (?) entry in the coming years.
