First Impressions: MAFIA III is Hardcore Gangster Badassery - E3 2016

The last thing that I saw at E3 this year was a private demo of 2K Games' Mafia III and holy shit! It was the perfect way to end the awesome video game expo. I was never really into the first couple of Mafia games and I reluctantly went to the presentation, but I'm sure glad that I did. They really upped the ante with this next chapter and took it to a whole new level of quality.

It's games like this that make me wish I had more time in my days to devote to video games. I would play the shit out of this all freakin' day long. I absolutely love what this game has to offer. The graphics, the gameplay, the music, the characters, the way the story plays out, the open world environment, the combat, and the insane violence, all play a part in making this game so incredible looking.

The game has been in development since 2012 and it looks like all of that time and effort that the developers put into it have paid off. As a fan of period-set mobster movies, this game seems like it will deliver the ultimate mob story experience, without actually being shot at or put in crazy insane situations in real life.

The game is set in 1968 in New Bordeaux, which is a fictionalized version of New Orleans, and here's the official synopsis:

After years of combat in Vietnam, Lincoln Clay knows this truth: family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for. Now back home in New Bordeaux, Lincoln is set on escaping a criminal past. But when his surrogate family, the black mob, is betrayed and wiped out by the Italian Mafia, Lincoln builds a new family on the ashes of the old and blazes a path of military-grade revenge through those responsible. Intense gun fights, visceral hand-to-hand combat, white knuckle driving and street smarts will all be needed. But with the right crew, tough decisions and some dirty hands, it’s possible to make it to the top of the city's underworld.

Here are some additional details that will shed some more light on the game.
