Golden Guardians sign Huhi, Darshan, and FBI to Academy roster

With days to go before the start of the 2019 Summer Split, the Golden Guardians have finalized their Academy roster. With the signing of new talent such as Jae-Hyun “Huhi” Choi, Victor “FBI” Huang, and Darshan “Darshan” Upadhyaya, the GGS Academy will look to improve on their eighth-place finish in the NA Academy 2019 Spring Split.

These new additions bring a wealth of big-league experience to the GGS Academy. Darshan spent over four years running the top lane for Counter Logic Gaming, also playing for Dignitas for several months in 2014. Huhi, who also spent years with CLG, mid laned for 100 Thieves during this year’s Spring Split, though he left the team in a cloud of controversy due to his lackluster performance throughout the split. Anthony “Hard” Barkhovtsev, the GGS Academy’s jungler, also has LCS experience via his stints with Cloud9 and Echo Fox.

The members of the GGS Academy will be given opportunities to earn spots in the Golden Guardians’ LCS roster if they perform well during the Summer Split. “Throughout the 2019 Summer Split, players from the Golden Guardians’ LCS and Academy rosters are expected to shift in an effort to continue to build a cohesive ten-man roster,” wrote a Golden Guardians representative.

As they gear up for a shot at the big leagues, the GGS Academy will be supported by Nicholas “Potluck” Pollock, who will join the organization as a two-way player coach. Modeling his job after the Golden State Warriors’ two-way player development coach Luke Loucks, Potluck will focus on the development of Academy players as they prepare for a transition to the LCS.
