This week I got a hands on chance to dive into the world of the upcoming title Atomfall from the folks at Rebellion and boy did I come away impressed. While I was already looking forward to the game, after playing it and diving into it’s depth and mysteries, it’s now rising to the top of my most anticipated games coming soon list.
While I could dive into the intricacies of crafting, melee and firearm combat, and much, much more, I’ll summarize but saying it’s all more than solid. I’d like to focus more on the exploration, freedom, and mysteries of this carefully crafted world. With the captured gameplay video above (note this was a preview build so any bugs you may see are not final), you’ll see a small snippet of the intrigue and mystery you get to unravel while uncovering this beautiful world.
With cellars, sewer tunnels, forests, and much more to explore, the mysteries and easter eggs present here are plentiful. Not to mention the graphics, audio, environmental effects and presentation are absolutely gorgeous. I won’t spoil anything with the storyline but I will say the more I played, the more invested I became in wondering how it will all turn out.
Even though you have freedom to move through the world and progress the story as you please, this isn’t you average 5,000 icons to uncover generic open world title. Everything is crafted with fine detail from writings, leads and clues to uncover, and some trial and error with combat, etc including a mix of stealth or just all out Rambo style. Experimentation is key here and how you approach the combat and story is one of the best parts of the game. Kudos to the devs at Atomfall with their attention to detail and passion in crafting this world.
In the end, I just wanted more time with Atomfall and can’t wait for it’s release later this month.
Atomfall will be available March 25th on consoles and PC. It will also be a Games Pass title!
