If all goes according to plan, Blizzard could be adding 3 or more maps to Overwatch by the end of 2017. Game Director Jeff Kaplan shares with fans the news in the quote below:
“We currently have 3 maps in development, all past the initial playtesting phase that are “standard” maps (QP/Comp). While something could always change, all 3 of those are looking likely for a release this year.”
Kaplan continued stating that those 3 maps are only in development for QP/Comp and that the development team is also working on 3 more maps for another mode:
“We also have 3 non-standard maps in development (these won’t go in QP/Comp). We also have a few other experiments going on."
