POKEMON SCARLET And VIOLET Get A November Release Date

In a new trailer released yesterday, The Pokémon Company revealed that Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will release for the Nintendo Switch this November. The roughly three-minute video debuted footage of the game that showcased new Pokémon, characters, and features like four-player multiplayer and Pokémon Center stalls along the side of the road.

Three new Pokémon were shown off including the Grass/ Normal-type Smoliv, the Electric-Type Pawmi, and the new viral sensation Lechonk, a portly little hog that is apparently far more muscular than it appears. Additionally, this fresh look at the game revealed that each version will feature a different Professor character that introduces the world of Pokémon to the player: Pokémon Scarlet players will work with Professor Sada, while Pokémon Violet players will report to Professor Turo.

One new feature the trailer shows off is the introduction of four-player cooperative play that will allow players to join their friends on adventures throughout the region. It’s still a mystery how exactly this will work, but the trailer does show four player characters in the same space and later shows two characters trading Pokémon with one another.

The first part of the video ends with an indication that there will be some sort of tournament system in the game, though whether it will look like the traditional Gym setup is unclear. The trailer then shifts to a cinematic style to reveal the legendary Pokémon associated with each game: Koraidon and Miraidon. Koraidon is reminiscent of a feathered dinosaur with a large, spiked wheel in its chest, while Miraidon has a more futuristic appearance that complements the jet turbines on the bottom of its feet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will launch on November 18th, 2022, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders are available now via the Nintendo Switch eShop.
