PUBG Reached 3 Million Players And Is Now Aiming To Release The Game On All Platforms

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is having a terrific start for the new year as the game recently hit a new milestone by reaching 3 million concurrent players on Steam. PUBG Corporation is also looking at the potential of the franchise to be released on every platform available to gamers.

The milestone was announced via a tweet from PlayerUnknown himself, Brendan Greene. He shared the game’s statistics on Steam and thanked all the fans for their continued support following the game’s release. A few weeks ago, PUBG also snatched the Best Multiplayer recognition from last year’s Video Game Awards.

As the game reached tremendous success in 2017, there is no stopping it from having an even better year in 2018, and PUBG Corporation is already looking at the possibilities for the franchise in the future. In an interview with InvenGlobal, PUBG Corp. CEO, Chang Han Kim has revealed that he would like the game to become a “univesal media franchise,” and that “the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform.”

It is still unknown whether PUBG is aiming for the expansion this year, however the CEO made it clear that expanding the game on multiple platforms will take some time, so although they are planning to go beyond the PC and Xbox One in the future, we can expect that the game will remain an exclusive to those platforms for some time.

“We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste,” he said. “We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first.”

Even though PUBG Corp. has not given a timeline as to when all these plans will take place, at least we can rest assured that they are planning to expand on other platforms in the future. This announcement is definitely better than the rumor that has been going around  a few months ago about the talks that PUBG reportedly had with PlayStation, more on that here

What are your best PUBG moments? Are you excited to see the game on a different platform?
