That’s right everyone, the newest entry into the classic series Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is making its way to PC this summer on July 26th! Created by Insomniac Games and ported to PC with the assistance of Nixxes Software, players will be able to expect better quality from frame rate to ray-tracing.
In case you live under a rock and have never heard of Ratchet & Clank or any of its 16 main and side series games, it’s a series that has been until now exclusive to PlayStation consoles. Ratchet & Clank follows the inter-galactic adventures of the titular characters, Ratchet, a bipedal furry catlike alien known as a Lombax, and his robot companion Clank as they fight evil across galaxies, universes, and even time.
A key part of the series’ gameplay has always been the wide array of wacky and absurd weapons that make up Ratchet’s arsenal to use in the series’ 3D third-person shooter gameplay. In addition to fun weapons like the R.Y.N.O. (Rip Ya’ A New One) and the Sheepinator, Ratchet & Clank prides itself on its fun 3D platforming, puzzles, and pervasive comedy.
Rift Apart originally landed on the PS5 back in 2021 to rave reviews earning scores from 4.5/5 to 9/10 on a wide variety of websites. With its coming port to PC, interested players may wish to purchase a DualSense controller, because, as with Sony’s other recent PC ports of popular games, it can make use of the DualSenses features, but only if the controller is plugged into your PC. For Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the DualSense gives each of the game’s fun weapons a fun and interesting feel. While many of the recent PlayStation ports to PC have run amazingly well, some like Last of Us Part 1 have suffered from bugs, let us hope that when Rift Apart makes it to PC, it does so smoothly.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is available now on PS5 and will launch on PC via Steam on July 26th for $59.99 US
