Word has come down from Sega, and it looks like licensing their franchise to a third party is paying off big time. Check out this tweet that claims Sonic Mania is the highest rated Sonic The Hedgehog game in 15 years:

For those wondering, that's every Sonic game following 2001's Sonic Adventure 2, which is pretty damn impressive. Then again, just taking a look at the list of games will show you that while there are a few stand outs, there's also a lot of crap in that lineup leading up to this game. I played Sonic Mania and enjoyed it, but I enjoyed Sonic Forces a lot better when I played it at E3, so this makes me really excited for that game!
