Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will officially have a campaign mode. The news was confirmed when DICE's Paul Keslin spoke with Eurogamer about the game, and the future of the franchise...
Myself as a Star Wars fan, I want story, I want narrative, I want something I can play that immerses me in that world but gives me something to follow and chase...That's actually what inspired us with the Death Star DLC and this - how we do add a bit of narrative to the multiplayer game? We know that players want that, we're not able to give them a full-fledged campaign post-launch for Battlefront, but how can we scratch that itch a bit? It's been received okay - I think some people appreciate it. We're trying to address as many things as we can."
Another thing the game has moved toward with it's recent Rogue One DLC is combining the experience of both land and aerial combat, but Keslin did not say whether or not that feature would be present in the sequel for the game. It leaves many frustrated as the original game allowed players to enter and exit air vehicles as they pleased.
The good news is it appears DICE isn't putting on blinders when it comes to the communities complaints about the rebooted game series. It sounds like they're going to work as hard as they can to ensure the sequel is as much in the spirit of the past franchise as much as their new vision will allow, and while I would prefer they just replace their vision with the old vision...I can respect that.
