STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC - REMAKE Is Officially On Its Way To PS5 And PC

Lucasfilm Games was not messing around when they teased that Star Wars games would be coming from all angles. What I didn’t expect was a full remake of one. Although rumors had surrounded this title for the better part of a year, it seemed that it had died down. Following the PlayStation Showcase this past Thursday though, it seems that those rumors were true indeed.

Aspyr, Lucasfilm Games, and Sony Interactive Entertainment announced Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic - Remake, which would be coming to the PlayStation 5 and PC exclusively. This is a full remake of the 2003 classic from BioWare and is being remade from the ground up for a new generation of players to enjoy and to preserve its legacy. The teaser shows off Darth Revan and even features a voice-over from Jennifer Hale who played Bastila Shan in the original game.

It’s also said that a number of the original voice cast will return to reprise their roles. This remake also gives the game a chance to become a part of the official Star Wars canon brought forth by Disney in recent years. EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II and Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order have been included in it as well, so I’m eager to see if we get an official word on it.

“We’ve spent the past several years assembling the very best talent from across the industry to deliver a modern vision of this timeless Star Wars legend,” said Aspyr co-founder Ted Staloch. “As lifelong Star Wars fans with extensive experience working with many of its best games, we have the deepest love and admiration for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and cannot wait to share this amazing remake with the rest of the galaxy.”

I do find it very interesting that Aspyr is the dev team taking lead on this seeing as it originally came from BioWare who is now owned by EA, a company that’s done most of the Star Wars video games as of late. Aspyr has done a great job at bringing older titles from the franchise to modern consoles but not in the same capacity, so all eyes are on them to see how the final product comes together when all is said and done.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Remake does not yet have a release date but will launch on PlayStation 5 and PC when it does.
