The Nintendo Switch Might Be Getting An Achievement System Soon

If the indie devs of Lichtspeer are to be believed, Nintendo is currently working on an achievement system for the Nintendo Switch. The indie team recently did a Reddit AMA, and dropped the info in during one of their questions:

"Nintendo doesn't have an official support for Achievements and Leaderboards, like Sony or Microsoft, but we know that they're working on it."

When asked how he knew this was happening, the dev indicated the big N hinted it to their team a few times.

So how credible is this rumor? It's essentially a dev speculating off of what Nintendo has said to them, although it's a little more credible than someone just making it up on the internet. Nintendo has long been anticompetitive in its stance towards gaming, although many find getting achievements fun, and Nintendo is always about pressing that when it comes to their business model.

Do you think Nintendo would benefit from an achievement system? I wouldn't mind some extra stuff to do in Zelda: Breath Of The Wild!
