Capcom has been on a roll with its era of remaking past Resident Evil games. This year Resident Evil 4 was remade and released which met a thunderous success. Fans still enjoy the first-person view of past games like Resident Evil VII and Resident Evil Village, and Capcom understands that side of the fanbase and has been working to provide a way to quench FPS fans’ thirst. Now, a virtual reality mode for the Resident Evil 4 remake has been revealed at the PlayStation Showcase with a new trailer. Leon is back, but now players will get to experience true horror from his eyes!
The official title of the project is Resident Evil 4 VR Mode and will act as downloadable content (DLC) for the base game. This DLC will be free and adds a more immersive layer of gameplay to reinvigorate the game. Thanks to the technology of VR and the motion controls, things such as parrying and reloading are done solely by player movements in real-time. If a chainsaw villager is about to strike, then it’s up to the player to avoid the blow. Dual wielding is available too which creates a much more freeform experience. This means that while shooting down enemies, players can slash at them with Leon’s trusty knife at the same time!
Resident Evil VR Mode is coming exclusively to PS VR2 through PlayStation 5 and will be free DLC. Further information will be revealed later.
