ASSASSIN’S CREED VALHALLA And ODYSSEY To Get Crossover Missions Tomorrow

In a surprise announcement alongside the reveal of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnorak, Ubisoft unveiled new missions called Crossover Stories coming to both Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. These missions will not only bring elements of each game into the other title but will also feature the first real-life meeting between two game-leading Assassins.

Valhalla’s Crossover story sees Eivor exploring strange happenings in Ravensthorpe only to find a mysterious Assassin by the name of Kassandra investigating the very same mysteries. Kassandra’s ability to still be alive thousands of years after the events of her game was established in the expansion content for Odyssey, and it seems Ubisoft isn’t done using her character just yet.

Odyssey will also get its own Crossover Story that will bring back familiar characters like Barnabas and Herodotus, two of Kassandra’s companions on her odyssey throughout Greece. The two stories will be linked, and bring new story content and explorable areas to both games.

This type of storytelling is something new for the Assassin’s Creed franchise and could be indicative of how Ubisoft plans to develop the series moving forward. It’s possible that the branding for these missions as Crossover Stories could be a precursor to the type of ambitious narrative development Ubisoft has planned for Assassin’s Creed Infinity.

Fans of the series won’t have to wait long, as both Crossover Stories will hit their respective games tomorrow, December 14th, 2021. Both stories are also completely free to anyone who owns either game.

What do you think about these new Crossover Stories? Do you think they could be the future of Assassin’s Creed? Is this an exciting step forward for the franchise, or a desperate plea to remain relevant in the wake of ongoing controversy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
